28/10/2013 Greek Golden Dawn Leader Arrested in Sweep


Greek police have arrested Nikos Michaloliakos, the leader of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn Party that is under fire in the killing of an anti-fascist for which one of its members was charged, was arrested on the morning of Sept. 28 along with his party spokesman, Ilias Kasidiaris, in a roundup of party members and leaders, authorities said.

With a protest from Greek gay groups outside, the Olympic flame on Oct. 5 was handed over to the organizers of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics that will be held in the Russian winter resort. The ceremony took place at the Panathinaikos Stadium, site of the first modern summer games in 1896.

Ino Menagaki, an actress, dressed as a high priestess, who lit the flame in Ancient Olympia on Sept. 29, lit a torch from a cauldron placed. The flame, placed in a lantern, was handed over to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak.

The case of the 4-year old girl found in a Roma camp in Larissa,Greece,

is now a major issue for Greek police.

Greek police are now trying to find the four-year old girl’s identity and if the couple

who alleges to be her parents are connected to child trafficking.

Greek police also spotted drugs and unregistered firearms in the Roma camp in Farsala, Greece.


01/11/2013 Shooting at Greek Golden Dawn Office, Two Dead


Greek police said that two people were killed in a shooting at the Neo Iraklion

office of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party in Athens on Nov. 1.

Georgios Fountoulis 26, and Manolis Kapelonis 23, were shot dead when two people

on a motorcycle sprayed fire at the Dolden Dawn office.

04.11.13 General Strike in Greece on November 6

On Wednesday November 6,  a general strike of public and private sectors

will take place for 24-hours and there is a possibility that protests will continue.

Public Servant’s Union (ADEDY) and General Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE) declared

“The fight against austerity measures is our only hope,” noting that

“redundancy in the public and private sector and unprecedented

new tax measures are leading to the forfeiture of the dwelling. On top of it, the upcoming

new cuts in pensions, the labor relations overthrow,

in combination with the abolition of Sunday holiday are exacerbating social impasse.”

The count-down for the 31st Athens Classic Marathon on November 10th has begun.

It is an international sports event which illustrates the power of human will and soul.

According to the Municipality of Athens there have been a massive number of entries

for all the events and not just for the classical race of 42,195 meters.

races for children, power walking and Special Olympics races.

40th Anniversary of the Polytechnic Uprising

 The events for the 40th anniversary of the Polytechnic uprising in 1973,

reached its peak with the annual protest march.

The march began at the gate of the Polytechnic University reaching the U.S.

Embassy in Athens, Greece.

Many students, members of unions, supporters of SYRIZA and fired employees of ERT,

took part in the march.
