Floods on Greek Island of Rhodes A 27-year-old woman’s body was found in the sea

on Saturday near the town of Kremasti, one of the areas hardest hit by the intense three-hour downpour,

a fire department spokeswoman said.

Yesterday, rescue crews had recovered the body of a 40-year-old woman from a river bank.

‘”A Super Puma helicopter with a 10-man specialized rescue team and dogs has been sent to Rhodes

to assist the search,” the spokeswoman said. Parts of the island have been declared as

being in a state of emergency.

Many areas on the island are currently without electricity due to lightning shutting down many lines,

while a number of basements of houses and stores have been flooded.

Due to bad weather, the fire department has received 130 calls for assistance and water pumping

and said it rescued another 20 people trapped in their homes or cars.

Within just a few weeks Rhodes has once again been hit by storms.
